About slurry collection, pumping & storage
Manure from all houses has to reach a single point for treatment or use. Collection pits, pumps and storage tanks are sized to daily volume and storage time, with attention to blockages, corrosion and overflow, and to how the end of the line connects to separation or treatment.
Common configurations
Gravity collection
Pipes and pits that flow by gravity.
Pumps
Submersible or other suitable pumps.
Interim storage
Tanks before treatment.
