About central ventilation & heat recovery
In cold climates much of the heat a farm pays for leaves with the exhaust air. Central ventilation with heat recovery passes that air through exchangers or water loops to warm the incoming air. Climate, airflow, condensation, freezing and cleaning decide which design works; savings should be checked with measured data.
Common configurations
Air-to-air exchangers
Heat moves between air streams.
Water-loop recovery
Heat carried by a water circuit.
Bypass and control
Switch off recovery in warm weather.
Selection checklist
Before we send a layout or quotation, we confirm these points with you.
| Point to confirm | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Climate and heat load | Whether recovery pays back. |
| Airflow and static pressure | Exchanger resistance. |
| Exchange type | Air or water. |
| Condensation and freezing | Protection in frost. |
| Cleaning and service | Dust and manure deposits. |
| Measured performance and energy | Check savings with data. |
Dimensions, materials and quantities are confirmed for each project.
Scope of supply
| Usually in the package | Agreed in each contract |
|---|---|
| Fans, air inlets, cooling pads and heaters | Air-tightness of the building |
| Climate controller and sensors | Heat source and power supply |
| Air filtration units where ordered | Standby power and alarm call-out |
