About group sow housing pens
Group housing lets sows move and socialise during gestation. The design challenge is feeding: each sow must still get her own ration without fights. We combine pens with free-access stalls or electronic feeding stations, plan resting, dunging and feeding areas, and keep escape routes and gilt groups in mind.
Common configurations
Static or dynamic groups
Fixed groups or sows added as they are served.
Free-access stalls
Sows lock themselves in to eat and rest.
Electronic feeding
Pens built around feeding stations.
Selection checklist
Before we send a layout or quotation, we confirm these points with you.
| Point to confirm | Why we ask |
|---|---|
| Grouping and transfers | How and when sows join a group. |
| Lying and feeding areas | Space and layout reduce fights. |
| Feeding station fit | Station count and position for the group size. |
| Gates and escape routes | Lower-ranking sows need a way out. |
| Individual identification | Needed for electronic feeding. |
| Gilts kept separate | Young sows grouped apart from older ones. |
Dimensions, materials and quantities are confirmed for each project.
