About free-farrowing pens
Free-farrowing pens are designed around three needs at once: freedom of movement for the sow, protection for her piglets and safe working space for staff. Many designs include a restraint that can close for a few days around farrowing. Pen size, sloped walls and the piglet area are matched to your welfare rules and routine.
Common configurations
Fully free pens
The sow moves freely throughout lactation.
Temporary restraint
A crate that can open into a free pen.
Piglet safety zones
Sloped walls and protected corners.
